Social Skills Groups We are committed to providing low-cost social skills groups that will enable all children to have access to the social skills training and facilitation that they need in order to build and develop critical interpersonal skills. Groups are geared towards children with higher functioning skills and are taught in the natural environment in order to help children generalize their skills.
Our groups are designed to address deficits in the following areas:
- Self-monitoring and reducing inappropriate behaviors
- Self awareness
- Joint-attention skills
- Appropriate conversation skills
- Greeting peers, initiating and responding to questions
- Finding common interests with peers
- Joining in with peers during play
- Turn-taking, waiting appropriately during games
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Being a good sport/losing well
- Hosting a get-together with friends
- Coping with rejection, teasing or bullying
- Initiating social activities with peers
- Choosing good friends
- Handling peer pressure
